Layperson’s Bible School was started in the Fall of 1981 by Bishop Keith A. Butler, founder of Word of Faith International Christian Center. Its purpose is to give the layperson a basic working knowledge of the Bible.
This two year program will lead you systematically through the Word of God, increasing biblical knowledge, and building confidence in the authority that we have
as believers.
The school term begins in September and ends in May. Classes meet every Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Childcare is available. Each class is taught by knowledgeable instructors with various types and levels of experience in the ministry.
The cost is $50 per individual class or $300 for the full with a non-refundable registration fee of $50 that is applied to the cost of tuition. Full payment is required before
classes begin.

Year 1 Course Description
- The Nature of Man
Man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in a body. This course examines the three-fold nature of man and how each part impacts man’s relationship with God. - Authority of the Believer
This course presents a clear, biblical viewpoint of the Christian’s rights and privileges in Christ and removes common misconceptions about our standing in God. - Dispensations
The study of Dispensations covers God’s plan for Man through six ages: Innocence, Conscience, Human Government, Promise, Law and Grace. - How to Relate to Your Pastor
This class teaches God’s divine purpose for the gift of Pastors. It reveals Bible truths regarding our responsibility as congregants in communicating with and esteeming this gift. - Benefits of the Cross
This course examines the inheritance made available to believers through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. - Ministry Gifts
This course explores the role and purpose of the five-fold ministry gifts which are Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher as outlined in. Ephesians 4:11. - Life of Christ
This course concentrates on Jesus the man, the mission, and the message revealed in the Gospels. - Prayer
This course gives insight into the relevance of prayer in all dimensions of the life of faith. Prayer is the supply-line connecting man’s needs to God’s resources. It is also the channel of fellowship and communion with God.
Year 2 Course Description
- Fruit of the Spirit
Students will learn to develop the characteristics of the Holy Spirit, which are referred to as the Fruit of the Spirit, as outlined in Galatians 5:22. - Gifts of the Spirit
This course will focus on the Holy Spirit and His gifts which are given to accomplish God’s purposes in the earth and to edify the church. - Covenants
This course is a systematic presentation of the 9 divine covenants found in Scripture. Through this study, the student will also gain a clear knowledge of God’s covenants with man. - Living Letters
An intensive study of the Epistles with special reference to the doctrinal teaching and the state of affairs of the early Church as reflected in these writings. - Life of Praise
Students will learn the difference between praise and worship and the practical application of both, in the life of a Christian and their walk with God. - Present Day Ministry of Jesus Christ
This course will cover the 4 areas of the present day ministry of Jesus: High Priest, Advocate, Intercessor, and Shepherd. - An Understanding of Suffering
This course will give students a solid understanding of bible suffering, and clear up misconceptions about why Christians suffer, and what it means to suffer like Jesus. - Faith & Daily Living
This course is a study of what faith is and how faith works. The student will gain insight into the areas of confession, love, hope, patience and the power of words.
